About Me
I'm a self-taught portrait artist based in Portland, Maine, and I've been painting since 1984. Over the past four decades I've completed thousands of commissioned portraits — pets, families, children, military families, and memorial tributes — each one crafted in pastel and pencil with the goal of capturing not just a face, but a personality.
Photorealistic detail is my signature — I work from your photographs to create a portrait that feels alive on paper.
I specialize in pet portraits, family portraits, military family tributes, and memorial portraits for both people and beloved animals.
The Process
Commissioning a custom portrait is simple. Here's how it works:
Submit your photos — send me your best reference photographs by email. Clear, well-lit images give me the detail I need to capture your subject at their most expressive.
Can't find the perfect photo? I can work from multiple images, partial photos, or even old and damaged photographs to create your portrait.
We confirm the details — I'll review your photos and follow up to confirm the subject, size, medium, and price before any work begins.
Your portrait is created and shipped — I complete most portraits within one week. Once finished, your portrait is carefully packaged and shipped nationwide, ready to frame.
Need it for a special occasion? Let me know your deadline when you reach out — I'll do my best to accommodate gifts, memorials, and time-sensitive commissions.
